Some RMB845 billion in goods crossed HZMB since its opening – Official

The total value of imports and exports that passed through the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge customs facilities has exceeded RMB845 billion ($116.4 billion) since its opening in October 2018 and April 2024, involving goods from more than 230 countries and regions, a bridge official said according to Hong Kong media.

According to a report by the newspaper Wen Weipo, the Assistant Secretary of the HZMB Authority,Li Qiang, also revealed that from January to May this year, the cumulative number of passengers traveling via HZMB was about 11.65 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 57 per cent, with a daily average of 77,000 passenger trips.

The total two-way traffic flow of HZMB had also increased by 1.8 times year-on-year, with about 1,300 Golden Bus service trips per day, and nearly 50,000 passengers taking the shuttle buses every day.

The official also said that with further optimization of northbound vehicle policies, the number of people using the HZMB may further increase, and the scope of consumption of tourism activities in the mainland will also be expanded.

With the convergence of regulations and standards among Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau becoming faster and faster, Li added that the role of the HZMB will be further emphasized, and the integration and development of the cities within the Greater Bay Area further accelerated.
